Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Last night saw the AGM of Letterkenny Town Council, and the end of my term as Mayor. Councillor Ciaran Brogan was elected to the position, and Cllr Dessie Larkin was elected Deputy Mayor.
I’ve had a fantastic year as Mayor; I’ve been able to represent the town across the country (and abroad), and have been in [...]

Wednesday, June 28th, 2006

Last week, in one of my last official acts as Mayor, I officially launched the environmental improvements at the Cathedral Car Park, the centre-piece of which is the new Celtic Cross (which was the source of much controversy earlier this year, more info here).

More photos here
The cross is an absolutely stunning piece of work, towering [...]

The Sports Complex, which should be finished construction later this year and [...]

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

Yesterday, Minister for Health Mary Harney TD visited Letterkenny. The main focus of her visit was a meeting with HSE staff, Oireachtas Members and members of Donegal Action for Cancer Care to discuss the provision of Cancer services in Letterkenny.
I was very surprised to hear that Mary Harney was coming to Donegal (apparently, she was [...]

Just back from the official opening of the new Business Park Road, which will link the new roundabout at Pramerica / Windy Hall on the Kilmacrennan Road with the IDA Business Park at Lisenenan and through to the Kiltoy/Gortlee area. The road will be a great relief for traffic in the area, and will take [...]

Donegal Action For Cancer Care Demo- A Huge Success

Monday, May 15th, 2006

Yesterday’s Donegal Action for Cancer Care rally/demo in Letterkenny was a huge success. There is a slight dispute over numbers, with national media saying there were 6,000 participants (RTE and Irish Examiner) and the DACC group and local media (Highland Radio) saying there were 15,000. Either way, a huge amount of people took to the [...]
