Donegal County Final, 2005

Yesterday’s County Final, between St Eunan’s and Naomh Chonail of Glenties, turned out a little controversial. The game ended in a draw, but will be remembered for the referee blowing the game up a few minutes early, when St Eunan’s were on a bit of a run.

On the whole, it was a quite poor game. St Eunan’s scored one point in the entire first half, but rallied well in the second. Most observers agreed that St Eunan’s would have been most likely to get the vital score, should the game have been played out. I’ll link to a proper story as soon as one becomes available online.

The reply takes place next week (October 9th) at 3:45, again in Ballybofey. Good luck again to all involved.

Update: The Donegal People’s Press now have a full report on the game on their website.

Update: October 10th Well, the Replay of the County Final took place yesterday. Glenties were triumphant, by a score of 0-10 to 1-5. St Eunans put up a good fight, particularly towards the end, but it just wasn’t enough. Congratulations to Glenties on a deserved win. St Eunans will be back next year!
