Ogra FF - LYIT
October 12th, 2007On Wednesday night, the Ogra FF grouping in Letterkenny IT held their first meeting. I was delighted to attend, and to help Sean and Ronan get things underway.
As a research student at LYIT, I am also a member of the Ogra cumann out there. I chaired the first meeting, introducing the idea behind Ogra and how young people can get involved with politics, on a local and national level.
There’s a great group out there this year, who are very interested in getting actively involved with politics. Youth groups, like Ogra and those affilated to the other parties, are a great way to do this and can help bring politics to the campusses in a very direct way. The LYIT group is working to organise some guest speakers in the coming weeks, and a few trips away to other Ogra groups and political events.
I’m looking forward to working with Ronan Kiernan (Chairman) and Michael Kelly (Secretary), and all the other members of the Cumann, to build a really active group out there. Thanks also to Sean McClafferty from Carrigart, who has been a great help in organising the Cumann so far.
