Letterkenny Town Development Plan Review
October 12th, 2007The Letterkenny & Environs Development Plan 2003 - 2009 sets out the guidelines for the development of Letterkenny. It covers everything; roads, housing, education, water and all other infrastructure pieces. It sets out how the town should grow, and where.
The current plan expires in 2009 and Letterkenny Town Council, together with Donegal County Council, has now started working on the next development plan. First step in this is a public review of the current plan.
A document is available from the Public Services Centre (Neil T Blaney Road) outlining all the issues available for comment from the public. You can download the document here (click on “issue paper”).
As part of the process, a number of consultation events are being held. Next up is a “Breakfast Briefing” for members of the business community, organised with the Chamber of Commerce. This takes place on Tuesday, Oct 16th from 8:30 to 10:30. Booking for this is essential, by phone to 074 917 2295. From what I hear there has been a lot of interest in this.
Two public Drop-in days will take place on Friday and Saturday, the 19th and 20th of October 2007, in the Regional Cultural Centre (located directly behind an Grianan Theatre). Visitors will be able to inspect materials relating to the current plan, early proposals for the future plans and then make their submission and contribution for consideration under the next plan. The event runs from 10:30am to 7pm on Fri 19th, and 11am to 5pm on Saturday 20th.
