Congratulations to the Gallagher clan, who have today set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people with the same surname. More than 1,500 Gallaghers gathered at Letterkenny IT this afternoon, beating the record set by the Joneses in Wales last year.

The event took place as part of the Gallagher Clan reunion, which takes place until Sept 15th in and around Letterkenny. More details are available on their website.

The new record is being covered by RTE and Highland Radio, and will surely get more coverage tomorrow.
