Letterkenny Town Bus - now in action

July 23rd, 2007

A quick post to say that the Letterkenny Town Bus is now in action. The bus started runing this morning (Mon, July 23rd) and will operate daily from 7am to 7pm.

The bus is operated by Dohertys of Dungloe, and runs on two routes around the town. The draft routes where presented to the Councillors  in April (they can be seen here); we asked for a number of changes to be made, some of which have been. As soon as I can get my hands on an updated time-table I’ll add it here.

It is fitting that this has taken place during Cllr Jean Crossan’s time as Mayor of Letterkenny. Cllr Crossan has worked on this for some time, since well before I came onto the council, and must be delighted to see it in operation.

hi, I’m dissappointed that there is no timetable available on-line, or there is no link from this page to whereever the timetable is, where are the timetables available from?

Hi, I would just like to say that when I initially heard about the new town bus service I was quite excited and relieved. I am registered blind (therefore am unable to drive)and, am forced to walk absolutely everywhere as a result!(have you seen the price of taxis lately!!!). However, I have yet to use this new service as I know little or nothing about it i.e. approximate dept/arr times at the stipulated locations, prices, whther or not the free travel pass is accepted etc. This is a great pity as more information and publicity re: the operation of this service woould certainly not go a miss!(and would undoubtedly increase the numbers of those of us who would gladly use this much needed service).

We’re hoping to meet the bus operator this week, so I should have some more concrete information then. I’ll update this website as I can.
