Alan Doherty

June 12th, 2007

A quick note to say good luck to Alan Doherty. Alan, a student at Letterkenny Vocational School, is currently in America undergoing a unique, life-changing operation. Alan was born without a Lower Jaw, and surgeons at the Mount Sinai Medical Centre are working to give him a Mandible and Lower Jaw.

His case has brought attention around the world. I’ve found numerous reports online from America news sources, and this video report from Indian Television. You can read reports on the websites of The Donegal News, The Letterkenny Post, Channel 4 (UK), WCBS (USA) and many other outlets.

Alan’s operations will cost over $100,000. His family and friends have put in a huge effort to date to raise funds, an effort which will continue for some time. In particular, I’d like to congratulate Alan’s fellow students at the Vocational School for all their efforts.

And also i wanted to say that I was born without a jaw as well. =( kinda wish i could get in contact with Alan since he is the only other person i know in the world besides me who was born without a jaw. =\ i dont know if this will work or if people will believe me on this.
