GAA Weekend- Congratulations Donegal
April 22nd, 20071) Commiserations to St Eunan’s College, who lost by two points after extra time in yesterday’s All Ireland B Colleges Football Final. The winners where St Marys from Edenderry. Congratulations to the College on a great season, and best wishes for the years ahead. I’m sure this year’s team will play as big a part in future Donegal successes as the class of 2000 has to this year’s County panel.
2) After 21 minutes, Donegal are beating Mayo by 5 points to 2. Highland Radio’s website was offline, but it’s now back online and you can listen to the game online by clicking here. Ocean FM also have a live feed- go to oceanfm.ie, click “listen live” and select the Donegal feed.
Full Time Update
And Donegal have won the National Football League for the first time! Congratulations to all involved. Donegal put in a strong performance to beat a Mayo team that battled right until the very end. Donegal won by 0-13 to 0-10, with each of there last three points coming from a subsitute. Rory Kavanagh of St Eunan’s scored the 11th point to put Donegal back ahead, and they took the momentum from there.
Donegal now have the best possible start for the All Ireland Championship coming up. This Donegal team features a great blend of players- experience, skill and energy. As I mentioned earlier, three of the team where members of the St Eunan’s College team who won the Ulster B Colleges Championship (McLarnon Cup) in 2000. It’s great to see so many talented young players having an impact on the highest level of the national game.
