Dr James McDaid’s Valentine’s Banquet
February 19th, 2007Busy weekend on the political front! Friday night saw the official launch event for Dr James McDaid’s campaign for the upcoming General Election.
The evening was an informal Dinner Dance in the Mount Errigal. There was a great crowd in attendance, from across the constituency and from all walks of life.
Best wishes to Jimmy over the next few months. This General Election is going to be a major battle for all sides, nowhere moreso than in Donegal North East. I believe that Dr McDaid has a very good chance of gettin re-elected, and I’ll be among those working to help him do that.

Dr James McDaid TD, Cecilia Keaveney TD and Fianna Fail Town and County Councillors from across Donegal North East at the Valentine’s Banquet.
The election campaign starts this week, with canvassing due to start today at No.1 McNeely Villas. For my part, I’m helping Jim put together a website (at http://www.drjamesmcdaid.com/) where he’ll be making use of all the tools available. The website is online, but is of course a work in progress.

Re: mcdaid comments regarding lack of support from bertie - Jim McDaid ran his campaign like he was an independant candidate - his whole ethos is that there is no one like him and that Keaveney and Blaney were merely sidelines to be tolerated. For someone who was going to retire from politics and who blatantly showed little regard for the local people by not attending the Dail he should keep sthum and be very thankful that they voted him in again. Any bets on the number of appearances he makes in the Dail? I guess he will excuse his absence by saying that Bertie did not support him.

agree very much with rose Jim Mc Daid ran his own campaign in the hope of getting rid of Niall Blaney but that is easier said than done Niall Blaney has a bright future in politics and I look forward to the day when the black merc enters Rosnakill
