November 14th, 2005MINUTES AND PROCEEDINGS OF INCOMMITTEE MEETING OF LETTERKENNY TOWN COUNCIL HELD IN THE TOWN COUNCIL OFFICES, LETTERKENNY PUBLIC SERVICES CENTRE, NEIL T. BLANEY ROAD, LETTERKENNY ON MONDAY 14TH NOVEMBER, 2005 AT 6.00 PM

RECEPTION OF DEPUTATION – EMELY DEVELOPMENTS
The Town Mayor, Cllr. D. Blake welcomed a deputation from Emley Developments to the meeting consisting of Conal Harvey, Gabriel Browne and John Reid. Mr. Conal Harvey proceeded with a presentation outlining to the members their proposals for the Unifi Site consiting of approximately 70 acres. The deputation asked for the Members support for their proposal. A lengthy discussion followed with the Town Mayor, Cllr. D. Blake thanking the deputation for their presentation. The Members requested that the Planning Office examine in detail the proposal put forwarded and that a report be presented to the Members at a future meeting of the Council outlining the impact etc of same.
PRESENTATION – MUSEUM CURATOR
The Town Mayor, Cllr. D. Blake welcomed Judith Mc Carthy, Museum Curator to the meeting. Judith Mc Carthy informed the Members of recent events/exhibitions which took place and also of future events planned for the Museum. A brief discussion followed with the Members outlining that the Museum should be seen as “people friendly� and that participation of schools was very important. The Members thanked Judith for her presentation and asked that Judith would update the Members on a quarterly basis.
CIVIC RECEPTION – LETTERKENNY ATHLETICS TEAM
On the proposal of Cllr. D. Larkin seconded by Cllr. D. Blake it was agreed that this Council holds a civic reception for the Letterkenny Athletics Team who won the National Marathon Team Competition in Dublin recently. On proposing the motion Cllr. D. Larkin outlined the great achievement by the Marathon Team namely, Gary Crossan, Pauric Mc Kinney and Martin Gormely. The Members in turn paid tribute to the team with Cllr. C. Brogan proposing that a donation be made to the charity. This proposal was seconded by Cllr. J. Crossan.
In relation to past Civic Receptions Cllr. N. Clarke asked that a plaque be displayed in the Council Chamber detailing all Civic Reception recipients.
LETTERKENNY MART
Francie Coyle, Director (Planning) outlined to the Members that following a discussion the County Solicitor had concerns in relation to the proposed Variation for the Mart Site in that the Council could be open to a compensation claim. Following a brief discussion it was decided that the Council would meet the Council’s Solicitor and further discuss the issues raised.
This concluded the business of the meeting.
